Timber Flooring

This gallery showcases a tiny sample of the thousands of floors that we have sanded and finished. There are a variety of flooring types shown, including parquet (parquetry), strip flooring and engineered flooring.

When selecting a timber type for installation, consideration should be given to the general tone (colour) of the timber, the patterning/grain in the timber and how much feature (if any) is to be included. It is possible to select a timber type for its pattern and then change the colour of the floor by staining the timber. Most clients tend to highlight the natural beauty of the timber by choosing a clear coating system.

The most difficult type of floor to sand is parquet. At the early sanding stages, each sanding pass leaves sanding marks which are at 90 degrees to the direction of grain. This then requires precise sanding to ensure that all sanding marks are removed prior  to coating. My favourite type of flooring is American Oak parquet laid in herringbone pattern.
